Reading several Linkedin profiles will give an idea of what you like and don't like—what gets your attention and which ones put you to sleep. Notice what is unique and memorable. Is there anything that helps you identify with and trust the writer?
As you look at profiles you can see the different audiences the writers are speaking to, what voice they use, and how formal they are. For those who are job seekers and entrepreneurs at the same time, the task takes even more thought. It's important to think about who your first audience is. A person may not want to hire a freelancer for a big project who shows first a strong interest in seeking full time employment. Some employers are less interested in job seekers who put their own businesses first. Know whom you want to speak to, and what perception you want to give of yourself: warm and friendly, professional and objective, or fun and humorous. It's great fun reading profiles and seeing so many different styles of self-expression.
